I found this small Mac thingie called “growl” first was a bit annoyed about it’s verbosity, but after some small tweaks and configuration it turned out to be quite handy. So handy that i miss it on my windows box.
It notifies not only about the fact, for example – new skype message, but also tells what and by whom was said. New mails, updated rss feed, etc. Unlike huge dialogue on the screen where you have to click “OK” this Growl just pops out on semitransparent box in bottom left screen (i guess thats configurable too) and i dont have to switch to the app to see what hapened since i already know who did what.
I usually am not big fan of such disctracting things, but this is less distracting than switching between apps and hey, its for free.

Marvin the depressed robot
Seems like in nowdays google knows everything, but there was one thing that The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy knew a long time before google was invented. And after spending millions of man-hours calculating, Google finally approves the Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life the Universe and Everything. Unfortunately, the Ultimate Question is still somewhere in The Twilight Zone.
Anyway, if you wonder what the Ultimate Answer is about, i would just advice you to remember a bit of kindergarden and physics…
